Bad Luck!, It's Friday 13 th

Any person can be capable of having a positive attitude when things are going well, but what really matters a whole lot more, is how you function when things are going poorly...

Times Are Tough, Is That What You Really Want?

I sincerely believe, that is what determines the true strength of your moral fiber. An appropriate attitude means feeling optimistic in difficult times, you now, like when your own Titanic has just rammed that iceberg head on! Are you adding up your blessings and looking for the good. Below are six simple yet effective ways to create and strengthen your positive attitude.

Positive Attitude 1. Enthusiasm!

Choose to be Enthusiastic - Think enthusiastically. Talk excitedly. Become passionate by acting passionate. Your thoughts and actions set up your level of enthusiasm.

Positive Attitude 2. Think Like Tigger The Tiger!

Think like Tigger - Walk quickly. Place a bounce in your step. A vigorous, hearty handshake indicates you are glad to be alive and happy to be with the other person. A good smile radiates interest. Force yourself to act with enthusiasm, and soon you will feel enthusiastic.

Positive Attitude 3. Always Bring Good Tidings!

Bring Good News - No one ever made a friend or accomplished something meaningful by transmitting bad news. Good news, on the other hand, promotes good will and spreads enthusiasm. Always aim to make the person you talk to feel better than they otherwise would. They'll call you an angel

Positive Attitude 4. See It And It Will Be So!

Visualize - All peak performers visualize success. Before you try to do anything, close your eyes and visualize yourself doing it well.

Positive Attitude 5. What Are Your Thoughts Right Now?

Talk to Yourself - What did you say to yourself today? Did you moan and groan about everyone. What we think is 100% reflected in how we feel. If all we think about is negative thoughts, our actions will be negative.

Positive Attitude 6. Are You A Blessing Or A Curse To Others?

Love Others - Bring encouragement, optimism, and hope to all that you meet. Help others feel comfortable in your presence. Spread joy and goodwill. Be concerned about the wishes and desires of others. Be understanding, caring, accepting, and forgiving. Become more concerned about helping others achieve their individual desires.

Pro's and Con's Of Blogging Your Own Pics Of An Unfolding News Event.

News on blogs tends to be more current than the news in the paper, or on television. Unlike news delivered by these other media, news that appears on blogs does not have to travel through a series of editors and administrators before it reaches the public eye. This has some advantages, and some distinct disadvantages...

Instantaneous Blogging

Blogging news pictures and stories as they unfold is one of the most exciting and controversial applications of technology that bloggers have discovered. One thing that makes the blogosphere so active is the fact that it is possible to update a blog instantaneously.

A Passenger, First To Post London Terror Pics On His Blog.

One of the most notable cases of news hitting a blog before appearing in other media took place in July 2005 when terrorism struck London. As passengers were evacuated from a subway car near an explosion, one man took several photographs of the scene with his cellular phone, and within an hour these images were posted online. First-person accounts of the catastrophe began appearing on blogs soon after these photos appeared, and people all over the world learned about the events in London by reading the words and seeing the photos posted by bloggers.

News Is Now Directly In The Hands Of The Public

The fact that these stories and images were being spread directly by individuals operating without the added filter of a reporter helped to make the crisis feel very immediate to people across the globe. When it comes to blogging, news often appears in a very personal context. This has the potential to be the beginning of an exciting new era of reporting, one that takes "New Journalism" to it's logical next step by putting the power to shape how the news is written and read directly into the hands of the public.

Little Attention Paid To Journalistic Accountability On Blogs

Many bloggers and cultural commentators who are champions of the weblog movement feel that this growing trend of individuals who are getting their news from blogs is a good thing, because it makes the flow of information more democratic. By decentralizing the control of news, blogs allow more voices to enter the field of debate about important current events. However, many people are adamantly opposed to the use of blogs as news outlets, and there are plenty of good arguments on this side of the debate. Unlike newspapers or television stations, few blogs have fact- checkers, and there is little attention paid to journalistic accountability on many blogs. This can lead to the rapid spread of misinformation, and more than one falsehood has taken the blogosphere by storm. The questions about whether blogging news as it happens is ethical or not are very complicated, but no matter where you stand on the topic of current events blogs you are almost sure to agree that this movement has the potential to revolutionize how modern people get their news.

How To Tell If You Are Courageous Or Not?

How often does one not hear a parent boast about his child by saying: “He does not have a frightened hair on his head, he would tackle anything.”

Proof Of Courage

However, this is no proof of courage. If you have no fear, then you don’t need courage. Actually, the courageous one is the person who is afraid. Such a victory over himself is a genuine example of true courage and also a sign of strong character

A Face Like A Martyr

One day, there was a group of children at a school swimming pool. All but one of them, dived off the diving board or jumped in. The exception stood alone on one side. His little face was that of a martyr. The other children provoked and abused him for being a coward.

Mark Of A True Hero

Eventually the little guy got onto the diving board. His face was ashen, his eyes full of fear and drops of sweat ran down his temples. For a long time he stood up there motionless and then, almost desperately, dived in headlong. That child had earned a medal that day and was called a true hero. He went on to master diving and freestyle swimming and collected many swimming trophies over the years. I knew him well, as that frightened little boy was me.

The Right Headline, Can Be A Click Magnet

There are literally millions upon millions of websites on the Internet not to mention the endless of pieces of content that these sites hold.

Baiting Your Headlines

Just pause for a second and try to put it into perspective. Have you ever given it some thought as to just how are you going to make your own content stand out among this giant sea of information?

To be more precise, how are you going to convince people that your content is in fact worth taking their time to read?

I know of one effective, legal way to do so. You bait them with the use of headlines.

The right headline, can be a click magnet, and the great part is that you mostly have total control on how to design your headline.

The only downside is that you have the power to make or break your headline Many SEO experts agree, that Google appears to be taking a web page's bounce rate into account now. If a page has a high bounce rate therefore they are saying that something about a particular page is not right.

I personally do not know to what degree this actually affects ranking , but it is enough to tell me that coming up with awesome content headlines to entice readers to stay and read it is now more important than ever before. So here are some tips towards helping you design a better “baiting” headline:

Always Present Your Headline With Something Good

We were always told from a young age, that if we ever wanted something, we have to work hard for it. For example, if we would like to buy a nice car, then we have to work our behinds off to earn enough money to buy it.

The same goes for those who would like to have that perfect look, they would go under the knife and endure painful surgeries just to achieve that desired look.

That is the reason why headlines, which promise something good, coming out of another thing that is excellent, will catch many people off guard. In most cases (if not all) headlines such as those will assuredly bait their interest since readers will feel compelled to find out more.

A few years back, I read an article where the headline read: “Man lost weight by eating Donuts”. Lose weight by eating something totally not diet-friendly? How is that possible?

After reading that headline, I was totally enticed. I was compelled to know more and just had to click to find out.

Here's another example: “Look Like A Million Dollars… For Less Than $50" is also a great headline to entice people to click and find out more.

I try to design my headlines by coming up with a positive and then coupling them with another positive and usually will have a winning headline on my hands.

Happy Endings

Many people suffering from chronic problems, which are constantly plagued by them to the point that they feel they cannot take it anymore, will, when they are pushed to the edge of desperation, would try (or even buy) anything to get rid of their nagging problems.

You must off course be ready to back up your claim, because misleading headlines can be even more damaging than lousy headlines. So if you claim something in your headlines, then you had better be ready to back it up.

These kinds of headlines make readers really curious. They will keep on wondering to themselves what that one thing that can make such a world of a difference is. It will continuously play in the mind of the readers, and eventually, they just have to know.

One reason why these headlines work as well as they do is because it usually involves just 1 or 2 methods, and yet they can make a huge difference. That suggests that this method or secret is extemely powerful indeed.

Emotional Benefits

Many people only buy what they want and not what they need.

When people say they need something, the chances are, they actually wanted it in the first place and saying that they need it is just another way of justifying their wants.

So, when using your headlines effectively, you can cultivate that “want” or “need”.

What actually drives a person to want something to the point that they think that they need it?

You do this by providing benefits.

Remember however, that you cannot provide just any kind of benefit, it has to be an emotional benefit. If you can therefore find and attach the correct emotional benefit to anything, such as a product, it will sell.
Finally, emotions are very powerful motivators. So learn how to stir up emotions when designing your headlines. Depending on what your content is, The emotion can either be humorous, sadness, anger, happiness, inspirational etc. and depends entirely on the tone of your content, you can write your own unique content and eye catching headline right here at wikinut.com

Understanding the difference between the "Active": and "Passive" voice

TranquilpenStarred Page By Tranquilpen, 28th Nov 2012 | Follow this author | RSS Feed | Short URL http://nut.bz/7mwq8k0u/
Posted in Wikinut>Writing>Tips
As budding writers, we often get caught up in a grammatical quagmire while trying to decide between the "Active": and "Passive" voice when writing copy. The rule of thumb, is that the active voice is always better...

The Subject Is Doing The Action

When we are using the "Active" voice, it simply means having the subject of the sentence do all the acting. For example: Richard fitted two separate speakers, so the sound could be alternated between the dining-room and the patio. In this sentence "Richard" is being the subject, The action he performed is “fitted” and “speakers” is the object in the sentence, describing what Richard has fitted. Another example would be: Paul hit a home run the second time at bat. In this sentence "Paul", the subject, did the "hit", the action.

Using The ":Active" Voice

When we use the "Passive" voice, the subject of the sentence is not acting. A plain example: The door is being closed by me. In this scenario, the "door" is the subject but the action “closed” is being done by me. While this sentence is grammatically correct, it is difficult for most average people to understand. Regardless of who your targeted audience is, making use of the "Active" voice is always better. Most grammar-checkers can be set to highlight sentences using the "Passive" voice.

When To Use The "Passive" Voice

There certainly are times when a writer has to use the passive voice. These instances, will be, for example, when the writer does not know who or what is doing or did the action. For instance, a crime journalist may write that the woman's dead body was found around 2 am., Saturday morning. The writer does not know how the woman had died, all he knows is that she was found on Saturday morning around 2 am. The rule is not to use the "Passive" voice unless it is categorically unavoidable.
