WE ALL HAVE A STORY TO SHARE

Can Anyone Write?

Everyone Can Write is an easy-to-understand, practical, ‘how to write’ book that everyone should read, from a business executive wanting to "tweak" his reports to the senior citizen wanting to chronicle his family history. The book solves the problems that beginning writers repeatedly struggle with and in it he gives them an easy-to-follow and simple set of rules that allows them to write clearly and rapidly...

His book outlines the three basic forms of non-fiction writing: narrative, report and essay. In each one he sets about dissecting and finally arrives at a set of pertinent rules applicable to each structure. These rules all vary and can easily be put into practice in the specific structure. In report writing, for instance, two easy-to-apply rules are: A sentence never exceeds 25 words and a paragraph is always 4 sentences or less.

In doing this, he has developed a foolproof method of structuring your writing, so that you make effective use of your available time, which is based on an easy-to-remember three-step formula, which is, Pre-write, Free-write, Re-write. Pre-write refers to researching the necessary information. Free-write refers to getting the information onto the computer screen. Re-write refers to the essential task of editing the writing into concise readable text. This technique provides a writer the opportunity to self editor their own writing, which dramatically improves the quality. These rules are a constant mental companion in all of my own writing.

Another such brilliantly written book is a Wordpress start-up  tutorial by Lisa Irby who is an absolutely gifted marketer online. She has written this remarkable book, The WordPress Starter Guide, it is for anyone interested in building a high-quality blogsite, with or without any design experience.

Blogger is great, make no mistake but what very few people realize, is how much higher Wordpress ranks on the search engines on the Internet and as we all know, if we want our blogs to be seen, we need traffic, not just any traffic, but highly targetted traffic I had heard how high Wordpress webpages get ranked and decided to give it a go.

Unfortunately, setting it up was nothing like Blogger and I started seriously looking for a mentor whom I could follow. I was searching on Clickbank (a great research source) for Wordpress tutorials and uncovered Lisa Irby's gem. From the first page she takes you by the hand and, step-by-step she walks you through the process of setting up your own WordPress site, tweaking and customizing its appearance and showing where to get the best niche topic content.

WordPress was originally designed for news-oriented sites, but because of its ease of use and flexibility, people are now using it to create all kinds of websites.

The problem is, most WordPress theme sites are really "news sites", but the average user doesn't know how to effectively use the WordPress Menu function and static pages to create a website with a logical navigation and optimal content layout.

FACT: Not every WordPress site should be organized in a total blog format with only categories and posts. WordPress is not just for blogs.

FACT: Too many users fail to make effective use of static landing pages, causing their important content and visitors to get lost in a sea of dated posts.

FACT: Traditional static website owners shy away from using WordPress because they assume their content can only be organized in reverse chronological order.

FACT: Existing WordPress users struggle to make their menus link to the pages they want.

Lisa's WP Starter Guide is not only the perfect starter guide for anyone new to WordPress, but it will show you how to make the best use of the dynamic and static functionality so your content is organized in the most logical way for your visitors to get to fast.

If you are intimidated by WordPress, this guide will make learning a breeze!
